Hummingbirds are fascinating in so many aspects. It is a longtime tradition here in northern Minnesota for many to put their hummingbird feeders out Mother's Day weekend. With the return of the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds to our region so begins their breeding and feasting on nectars and small insects throughout the growing season. They make incredible journeys twice a year, and as they face many hurdles to get here and back again, we can help by knowing a little bit on feeder maintenance and their behavior patterns.
